Metin2 armor and equipment: the class-bound armor sets, the dealer, the Plus system, and the bonuses

Gameforge's official equipment FAQ covers armor, weapons, helmets, boots, gloves, accessories and the other slots a character can equip. Equipment drives combat power: it affects attack and defense values, movement speed, attack speed and other stats.

The five classes and their armor
  • Warrior: heavy, combat-focused armor.
  • Ninja: light, agile armor.
  • Shaman: spiritually themed robes.
  • Sura: demon-inspired armor.
  • Lycan: wolf-themed armor.
Armor is strictly class-bound. A Warrior cannot equip Ninja armor and the reverse is also true, and the same rule applies across all five classes. The armor sets differ only in name and appearance, and the stat values are 100 percent identical. A Warrior at level 40 has the same defense values as a Ninja, Shaman, Sura or Lycan at the same level wearing the corresponding armor of the same type.

Weapons are class-bound too
  • Warrior: swords or axes.
  • Ninja: bows or daggers.
  • Shaman: fans or staves.
  • Sura: swords and spell weapons.
  • Lycan: claw-like weapons.
Weapons set the character's attack value, and a higher Plus level significantly increases base damage.

Where equipment comes from
  • Armour Dealer: an NPC in every city that sells armor and some weapons for various level ranges. It is the easiest source for basic equipment while leveling.
  • Monster drop: Metins and regular monsters drop equipment items directly.
  • Player trade: through private shops or direct trading with other players.
  • Crafting: an armor design specifies the materials and requirements needed to forge a particular piece of armor, such as ore, essence or special drops. Designs drop in the game world or come from certain sources.
  • Dungeons and events: special armor pieces drop in dungeons or are rewarded through events.
The Plus system and bonuses
  • Every piece of armor and weapon can be improved through the Plus system, with levels from plus 0 upwards. Each upgrade requires improvement stones, and at higher Plus levels the item may be damaged or destroyed if the attempt fails.
  • Equipment pieces can also carry additional stat bonuses, such as more HP, higher defense or resistances. Bonuses can be modified or rerolled using special items, and two pieces at the same Plus level can differ significantly if one has noticeably better bonuses.
Which slots can carry bonuses
  • Every wearable item except the belt can contain bonuses, and items dropped by monsters have a possibility of containing them as well.
  • The wiki splits bonuses into two groups that work separately: the first five, and the sixth and seventh. The first four are added with reinforce items and the fifth with a blessing marble, and adding a bonus can fail.
  • The wiki recommends having five bonuses on an item before changing them, because a bonus added later is most likely to have a low value. Default bonuses already on an item cannot be changed, with exceptions for epic upgraded items and items that can carry different default bonuses, usually level 120 items.
Beginner points from the FAQ
  • Use the dealer while leveling. Dealer equipment is adequate, so do not save Yang for overpriced player equipment during that phase.
  • Do not sell drops. Dropped items can be worth more at the dealer than expected, or be needed for crafting.
  • Check the class. Armor for the wrong class cannot be equipped.
  • Collect crafting materials early while leveling to save time later.
