Metin2 leadership skill: the level bands, the six roles, the bonus table, and where the two wiki pages disagree
Quick summary

Leadership is the group leader's buff system in Metin2. The leader spends Art of War books to raise the skill, and from level 5 can hand out named roles to party members that grant attack, attack speed, health, defence, skill duration and health restore. The English and German wiki pages agree on the numbers and disagree on one rule about how many times the same role can be handed out, so both readings are in this post.

The skill itself

The German page places Leadership among the standard skills, which means every class has it available on the same terms. It says the leader of a group can grant bonuses to group members, and that it does not matter whether those members have developed the skill themselves. The English page describes the same thing from the other side: the leader of a group can assign bonuses to members if the group leader has learned the leadership skills.

You can see your current level by opening the skill tab, which the English page gives as V, and watching the leadership icon. The first bonus can be assigned from leadership level 5, and the maximum leadership level is P.

Raising the skill

The English page splits the ladder into three book chains. Level 1 to M1 requires Sun Zi Art of War, 20 books. Level M1 to G1 requires Wu zi Art of War, 55 books. Level G1 to P requires WeiLiaoZi Art of War, 155 books.

The German page gives the same totals with the per-step count. It lists the training table as one book for M1 to M2, two for M2 to M3, and so on up to ten books for M10 to G1, then eleven for G1 to G2 through twenty for G10 to P. It prints the Wu zi requirement as 55 successful books in total and the WeiLiao zi requirement as 155 successful books in total, which matches the English figures.

What each level unlocks

The German page gives the unlock ladder by role. At level 5 you get "set as attacker", which grants additional damage. At M1 you get "set as melee fighter", which grants additional hit points. At M5 you get "set as defender", which grants additional defence, and "set as berserker", which grants additional attack speed. The page continues from G5 to P with the remaining roles.

The English page gives the same roles in a table with six columns: set as attacker, set as berserker, set as blade fighter, set as blocker, set as defender and set as skill master. The bonus row maps them to attack value, attack speed, maximum HP, skill duration, defence and HP restore.

Worth flagging: the English table's header says "set as blade fighter" but the image in that column is named "set as melee", and the header says "set as skill master" while the image is named "set as wizzard". The German page calls the HP role "set as melee fighter" and the restore role is not in its ladder at all, so the English column names are the ones to treat as uncertain.

The bonus values

The English page gives the values for the pure leadership skill, without Charisma or Inspiration. Read it as one role per column.
  • Attacker: level 5 gives +15 attack value, rising to +30 at level 19, +35 at M1, +50 at G1, +67 at G10 and +72 at P.
  • Berserker: attack speed starts at +2 percent from M5, becomes +3 percent from M9, and reaches +4 percent from G7 through P.
  • Blade fighter: maximum HP starts at +610 at M1 and climbs to +1450 at P.
  • Blocker: skill duration appears at G5 with +12 seconds, moves to +13 seconds at G7 and +14 seconds at G10, and ends at +15 seconds at P.
  • Defender: defence starts at +2 percent at M5, becomes +3 percent at M9 and +4 percent at G7.
  • Skill master: HP restore starts at +2 percent at G5, becomes +3 percent at G7, and stays there through P.
What the leader gets back

The German page says the leader has been credited with part of the assigned bonuses since game version 16.2, with every assigned bonus credited at its percentage value. Its table gives the leader's share as 5 percent at levels 5 to 19, 10 percent at M1 to M10, and 15 percent at G1 to P. The English page states the same three figures, attached to level 5, M1 and G1.

The leader's share can be increased by learning Charisma, and the amount a member receives can be increased by that member learning Inspiration. The German page adds a condition the English page does not print: if a player has no Lehre, meaning no apprenticeship or master-pupil link chosen, that player cannot be given leadership bonuses at all.

Where the two pages disagree

The English page says the group leader can assign two of the same roles to different group members, and that only at leadership level P can the leader assign three of the same roles. It adds that if you assign multiple members the same role, the reflected value is picked from the player with the highest Inspiration level and does not stack.

The German page says the opposite in plain terms: each rank can only be awarded once within the group, and each group member can receive at most one bonus. On the German reading, giving two members the same role is not possible at any level.

I would not treat either as settled. The English page was last edited on March 10, 2026, and the German page on August 29, 2023, so the English text is the more recent of the two. If you want to know which one your server runs, test it in a party rather than trusting either page.

How many roles you can hand out

The English page gives the count by level band: levels 5 to 19 allow 2 roles, M1 to M4 allow 3, M5 to G4 allow 4, G5 to G10 allow 5, and P allows 7. The German page agrees on the ceiling, saying that only at level P can you give all seven possible group members a rank.

Both pages agree the bonuses only work while the chosen member is close to the group leader, the same condition as the group experience bonus.

FAQ
  • Does every class get Leadership? Yes. The German page lists it as a standard skill, available to every class on the same terms.
  • When can I start giving bonuses? From level 5. The maximum is P.
  • How many books do I need? 20 for Sun Zi Art of War, 55 for Wu zi Art of War and 155 for WeiLiaoZi Art of War, for the full climb to P.
  • Can I give the same role twice? The English page says yes, two at once and three at P. The German page says each rank can only be given once. See the disagreement section.
  • Do the bonuses work at range? No. They only apply while the member is in the immediate area of the group leader, like the group experience bonus.
  • Which page is newer? The English one, edited March 10, 2026. The German page was last edited August 29, 2023.
