In Metin2, a skill is not guaranteed to advance after exactly 17 invested points. If it advances after 18, 19, or 20 points, the reset method determines whether the points beyond 17 are recovered.
Old Woman reset through Level 30
Up to and including Level 30, the Old Woman can reset all skill points. Gameforge's skill guide confirms this reset covers all skill points and that Level 30 is the last level at which it is available, and the Metin2 Wiki states that it returns every invested skill point.
This means the complete reset can recover all points from a skill that advanced after 18, 19, or 20 points. It resets the entire skill allocation rather than only the late-advancing skill.
Skill Reset Document
A Skill Reset Document lets the player select one skill. The Metin2 Wiki states that it returns no more than 17 points from that skill, even when more points were invested. It also removes points obtained through skill books.
| Points invested | Maximum returned | Points not returned |
|---:|---:|---:|
| 18 | 17 | 1 |
| 19 | 17 | 2 |
| 20 | 17 | 3 |
Therefore, a Skill Reset Document is not equivalent to the Old Woman's complete reset for a skill that advanced beyond 17 points. The complete reset is documented as returning every invested point through Level 30, while the document is capped at 17 returned points for the selected skill.
