Metin2 Shaman: Dragon Force and Healing Force, what each skill does and what to master

Shaman is the caster of Metin2, and at level 5 it splits into two subclasses with different skills. Pick Dragon Force for buffs and dragon attacks, or Healing Force for heals, lightning, and movement speed. Both work, and both get invited to parties for different reasons.

What the class does well

Shamans are the only class that cannot wield a sword, and the only one that can use a fan or a bell. In general they value Intelligence above everything, because INT raises attack skill damage and the effect of most buffs and support skills. Vitality and Dexterity are the common secondary stats, for survivability and overall power respectively.

Weapon choice has a simple rule of thumb. On horseback in PvM, use a bell, since fans are ineffective on horseback and bells generally have higher physical attack for their level. On foot with fast casting speed, a fan works well because you can fire off spells in quick succession. For PvP a fan is almost always preferred because it has higher magical attack, with one exception: a bamboo bell at +9 has more magical attack than any fan. Shaman armour is called clothing, though plenty of players still call it a dress.

Dragon Force

Dragon Force is the buff side. Its buffs raise the critical hit chance and physical damage resistance of you and your allies, which is why a Dragon shaman is in demand in parties. Buff strength depends on skill level and Intelligence only, so a low level weapon with an Intelligence bonus casts a better buff than a higher level weapon without one. Offensively it gets lasting fire damage and wide splash attacks, which suit PvM, plus a fast long distance attack that also works in PvP.

The Dragon Force skills are Blessing (a protective circle), Dragon's Roar (a dragon figure attack), Dragon's Strength (raises you or a group member's attack), Flying Talisman (a thrown talisman attack), Reflect (a protective reflecting circle), Shooting Dragon (a direct dragon attack), Meteor (calls a meteor from the sky), and Shooting Dragon Boost, which raises Shooting Dragon's attack power.

Healing Force

Healing Force is built around Cure, which restores HP and has a chance to clear negative effects. Its strength depends on skill level and the shaman's magic attack power rather than Intelligence alone. Swiftness is the other signature skill, and it is affected only by skill level, not by Intelligence or magic attack power. The mix of self healing, faster movement and casting, and quick attack spells makes a healer shaman strong in PvP and comfortable in PvM.

The Healing Force skills are Attack Up (strengthens a partner), Cure, Lightning Claw (a thunderbolt to the fist), Lightning Throw (a thrown thunderbolt attack), Summon Lightning, Swiftness (run as fast as the wind), Aether Ward (protects party members from damage every 12 seconds), and Summon Lightning Boost.

Naming differs between sources

The Metin2 wiki and Gameforge's own Shaman guide use different names for some of the same abilities. Gameforge calls Shooting Dragon "Dragon Shot", Dragon's Strength "Dragon's Aid", Swiftness "Haste", Attack Up "Attack+", and Aether Ward "Aether Shield". If you follow a build guide and a skill name does not match what you see in game, that is usually why.

Building one

A hybrid build usually takes two buffs and two attack skills. The wiki's Dragon Force guide says the buffs are almost always Dragon's Strength and Blessing, while the attack skills vary by preference, with Shooting Dragon plus Dragon's Roar being the most common pairing and Shooting Dragon plus Flying Talisman leaning on casting speed. Treat build advice as a starting point rather than a rule, because private servers can change skill values.
