Metin2 skill system: skill points, misskilling, and how to reset correctly
The skill system in Metin2 is one of the most important mechanics to understand, and one of the easiest to mess up. This guide covers how skill points work, what misskilling is, and how to reset your skills without losing progress.
How skill points work
You get your first 4 skill points at level 5 through the quest "Training Begins". After that, you get 1 point per level. These points go to the 6 skills of your chosen specialisation. Each class has 2 specialisations, and you pick one at level 5.
To use a skill, you need at least 1 point in it. You can drag it to your quick access bar and use keys 1-4 or F1-F4, or right-click it in the skill window.
What is misskilling
Misskilling means you put more than 17 points into a single skill without it advancing to the next rank. At 17 points, a skill should advance to Master or Grandmaster level. If it does not, you have misskilled it.
The game does not guarantee advancement at exactly 17 points. It can vary. If you misskill, the skill will not advance correctly and you will have wasted points.
How to reset
Until level 30, you can reset your skills with the Old Woman NPC for a Yang fee. The cost is 20,000 Yang at level 5, plus 2,000 Yang per level. At level 30, it costs 70,000 Yang.
When you reset, you get all your regular skill points back. However, you lose points gained from skill books at Master levels M2 to M10 and any Grandmaster levels. Plan your resets carefully.
From level 31 onwards, you need a Skill Reset Document instead. These can be obtained in-game or from the shop.
Skill books and exorcism scrolls
Skill books let you upgrade skills beyond the normal point system. You can read multiple books in parallel, but each has a 24-hour cooldown. Exorcism Scrolls let you skip the wait and continue reading immediately.
Do not use skill books until you are sure you will not reset again. Points from books at M2-M10 are lost if you reset via the Old Woman.

- Bring your main attack or defence skill to Master first
- Master counter skills to unlock boost skills
- Read skill books after your final reset
- Remember Combo: it extends your attack chain by up to 2 strikes
