Metin2 Dragon Stone Alchemy: two sets, seven stones, and the upgrades that decide your bonuses
Dragon Stone Alchemy is usually the last system players finish, and the one with the worst return per yang until the rest of the gear is done. It is also the only system in Metin2 that lets you carry two complete sets of bonuses and switch between them. Here is how it is structured, what each stone gives, and what an upgrade actually costs.
Getting access
The system is visible from level 1, but production starts at level 30.[1] That is when the quest Arrival of the Dragon Stone Shards unlocks. The Alchemist asks for 10 Dragon Stone Shards, which drop from monsters inside your level range, and hands back one Cor Draconis (Rough).[1] The daily list calls it Power of the Dragon Eye, it can be done five times a day per character, and it resets at 4:00 AM.[1]
From level 110 a second version opens, Dragon Stone Shards+?!, with the shards collected in the Plateau of Illusions. Ten of those convert into a Cor Draconis (Rough) or a Cor Daemonis (Rough), three times a day.[1]
Two details catch people out. The plus shards carry a 24 hour timer from the moment they drop and vanish if you do not use them, while the regular shards cannot be traded and the plus version can.[1] The Cor Draconis boxes themselves cannot be traded.[1]
The whole system has its own inventory, separate from your bag. Press O, or the DSS button in your inventory, and it opens.[1]
Two sets, seven slots
Each set holds one stone of each of the seven colours.[1] You can fill both sets, but only one can be active at a time and there is no way to run both at once. Activating a set is what starts its timers, and the shortcut is CTRL+C or CTRL+V.[1]
The seven stones
The wiki lists the maximum bonus each stone can reach at Mythic clarity, so treat these as the ceiling rather than the expectation.[1] Every stone gives one main stat line, an elemental resistance and a Power of X bonus at higher stages, and a choice of extra bonuses that appears as the stone climbs.[1]
The four things you upgrade
The official wiki says every class step takes two stones of the same class, and that a failed attempt leaves you with one stone of the same class.[1] Private server guides describe a much harsher ladder, five Rough stones for one Cut and three Cut stones for one Rare, but that is their server's configuration rather than the official rule.[4] Check which one your server uses before you start feeding stones into the window, because the difference between a two stone attempt and a five stone attempt is the difference between an evening and a month.
Clarity and level upgrades
Clarity works the same way: two stones of the same clarity per step, and a failure leaves one stone at the same clarity.[1] Level is the odd one out. It needs a Dragon Bean, either Green, Blue or Pink, plus a single dragon stone, and a failed attempt either drops the level by one or leaves it unchanged.[1] The level cap depends on the clarity: up to +4 at Flawless, +5 at Brilliant and +6 at Excellent.[1]
Rerolling a Mythic bonus
Take a Mythic stone to the Alchemist with a Flame of the Dragon. The regular flame and the (B) version cannot be mixed. The price scales hard with clarity: 1 flame at Matt, 3 at Clear, 9 at Flawless, 27 at Brilliant and 81 at Excellent.[1]
Time, and why stones are never permanent
Every stone has a 24 hour duration and it only counts down while the set is activated.[1] To refill it, buy Tongs of Time from the Alchemist and use them on an unused stone. The stone is consumed and you receive a Time Elixir (S) worth somewhere between 5 and 100 percent of 24 hours, depending on the class of the stone you used the tongs on.[1] Elixirs last 24 hours once you receive them, and applying a 50 percent elixir adds 12 hours to the stone you target.[1] Time Elixir (M) and Time Elixir (L) exist as well.[1]
Removing a stone from the wheel is a right click, and it is a gamble. Success returns the stone to the alchemy inventory, failure returns a Dragon Stone Shard. Dragon Tongs improve the odds, and Dragon Tongs+ guarantees the stone survives.[1]
Tradeability
Rough, Cut and Rare stones can only be sold to an NPC. From Antique upward they can be traded, placed in a private shop and dropped on the ground. None of the classes can be stored in the warehouse or stacked.[1]
Soul Stones are a different system
A lot of confusion around dragon stones comes from Soul Stones, which sound similar and do something else entirely. A Soul Stone upgrades a class skill from G1 to P and disappears after use.[3] It costs rank points that rise with each step, from 1,000 for G1 to G2 up to 5,500 for G10 to P. A failure costs roughly a third to a half of that, and training a skill while your rank is negative costs double.[3] You cannot train below -20,000 rank points, and a Soul Stone can only be read every 8 to 12 hours.[3] Soul Stones drop from rank 5 monsters and bosses above level 40, and from metins above level 40.[3]

- Onyx: 16 VIT, resistance against darkness, Power of Darkness. The extras are defensive, from chance to avoid arrows and resistance against piercing or critical hits to chance to block or reflect a close combat attack.[1]
- Diamond: 16 INT, ice resistance, Power of Ice. The extras are skill damage, resistance against skill damage, magical defence and magical attack value.[1]
- Ruby: 16 STR, fire resistance, Power of Fire. The extras are average damage, average damage resistance, defence and attack value.[1]
- Jade: 800 maximum SP, wind resistance, Power of Wind. The extras all point at health, including maximum HP, a maximum HP percentage, chance to absorb damage as HP and HP regeneration.[1]
- Sapphire: 16 DEX, earth resistance, Power of Earth. The extras are strong against, and defence against, Warrior, Sura, Ninja, Shaman and Lycan.[1]
- Garnet: 2400 maximum HP, lightning resistance, Power of Lightning. The extras point at SP instead, including maximum SP, an SP percentage, SP regeneration and chance to absorb damage as SP.[1]
- Amethyst: strong against devils and precision at the first stage, Sung Ma's will (VIT) at the third. The extras add Sung Ma's will in the other stats and a bonus against Metin stones.[1]
The four things you upgrade
- Class: Rough, Cut, Rare, Antique, Legendary, Mythic. Higher class means higher bonuses, and the frame around the icon changes as you climb. Mythic was added in version 19.0, and the Amethyst stone in 23.2.[1]
- Clarity: Matt, Clear, Flawless, Brilliant, Excellent. Higher clarity means higher bonuses again.[1]
- Level: +1 to +6, visible only in the item description.[1]
- Bonus: only Mythic stones can have their bonus changed, using a Flame of the Dragon.[1]
