Metin2 character stats: strength, intelligence, vitality, dexterity, and what each one does

Metin2 has four primary stats: Strength (STR), Vitality (VIT), Intelligence (INT), and Dexterity (DEX). You get 3 stat points per level, awarded at the 25%, 50%, and 75% experience orbs within each level. Each stat can be raised natively to a maximum of 90 points, for a total of 286 freely distributed points up to level 90 at 75% EXP. After that, normal stat points stop increasing through regular level-ups.

Understanding what each stat does is one of the most important parts of character development. This guide breaks down the mechanics so you can allocate points with confidence.

Strength (STR)

Strength is a physical stat that primarily affects the Warrior, Ninja, and Sura classes. Each point in STR increases the attack value, which determines the average damage and skill damage of physical attacks. A high attack value means fewer hits to kill a target, which matters a lot against enemies with fast HP regeneration.

For physical classes, STR is usually the primary stat. It directly increases your damage output and shortens fights.

Vitality (VIT)

Vitality is the foundational stat for every character. Each point in VIT increases:
  • HP by 40 points
  • Defense by 1 point
  • Magic defense by 1 point for every 3 VIT points
HP determines how long you can survive enemy attacks. Defense reduces incoming physical damage. Magic defense reduces incoming magic damage. VIT is the stat that keeps you alive, and it is important for every class, not just tanks.

Dexterity (DEX)

Dexterity is the most versatile stat in Metin2. It affects both physical and magical aspects of the character. Each point in DEX increases:
  • Attack value (though not as strongly as STR)
  • Skill damage for all attack skills, including magical skills
  • Evasion by 1 point for every 3 DEX points (up to 90 DEX, then 1 point per 5 DEX)
DEX also contributes to the DexFactor, which multiplies the weapon attack value. The formula is: MaxValue = (270 - Level) / 2, and DexFactor = 1 + (DEX / MaxValue). When DEX reaches MaxValue, the weapon attack value is doubled. This makes DEX especially powerful at lower levels.

Contrary to a common misconception, DEX does not increase physical defense. Only VIT raises defense through stat allocation.

Intelligence (INT)

Intelligence is the magical stat, used primarily by Shamans and Suras. Each point in INT increases:
  • Magic attack value by 2 points
  • Magic defense by 1 point
  • MP by 20 points
  • Shaman buff strength (for the Shaman class)
  • Sura and Shaman spell success rates
Magic attack value determines how much damage magical attacks deal. Magic defense reduces incoming magic damage. MP is required for skills, the ether ring, and calling your horse. For casters, INT is the primary damage stat.

Class primary and secondary stats

Each class has a primary and secondary stat that increase damage:
  • Warrior: STR primary, DEX secondary
  • Ninja: DEX primary, STR secondary
  • Sura: STR primary, DEX secondary
  • Shaman: INT primary, DEX secondary
  • Lykaner: DEX primary, VIT secondary
The primary stat increases attack value by approximately 1 per point. The secondary stat increases attack value by approximately 1 every 2 points, though the exact rate varies by class.

Defense and magic attack formulas

Defense without proportional bonuses is calculated as: Level + VIT + Equipment.

Magic attack value without proportional bonuses is: Level + INT + Weapon Magic Attack Value. If a weapon has no magic attack value listed, it is exactly half the weapon's attack value.

Magic defense without proportional bonuses is: Level + INT + VIT/3 + (Defense - VIT - Level)/2.

Note: there is a known bug where magic defense currently has no effect on skills, making it useless in PvP for skill-based damage.

How to allocate points
  • Warrior: stack STR first, then DEX for skill damage and evasion
  • Ninja: stack DEX first, then STR for attack value
  • Sura: stack STR first, then DEX
  • Shaman: stack INT first, then DEX for skill damage
  • Every class: put enough VIT to survive the content you are doing. A dead character deals no damage.
  • Do not spread points thin. Most players max one stat before moving to the next.
