Metin2 New Player status and Channel Access: what the October 2026 changes mean for your account

Quick summary

Metin2 changed how new and untrusted accounts are treated in October 2026. Two systems went live close together: the New Player status, which restricts what an account can do until it has earned trust, and Channel Access, which limits which channels an account can enter. Both were introduced as measures against bots and commercial farming accounts.[9][6]

Neither one is a ban, and neither one is permanent for an account that plays normally. The details matter though, because the restrictions hit exactly the activities that make early progress feel fast.[9]

The New Player status

Gameforge introduced a system that scores how trustworthy an account is, based on regular honest play. Accounts that have not earned that trust yet get the New Player status, and it disappears once the system's requirements are met.[9]

Three things are restricted while the status applies.[9]
  • Trading, dropping items, or selling to other players.
  • Attacking other players, meaning PvP.
  • Joining or founding a guild.
Everything else stays open. Chatting, farming, quests, dungeons and general character progress all work normally. The restrictions target the activities bots and real money traders rely on, not the playing experience itself.[9]

The status is not permanent. Playing normally lifts it automatically, and the trust you build applies to every game account on the same Gameforge account. Loyal players with a long history should not see restrictions even on a brand new game account.[9]

How the status was rolled out

The system went through a test phase on four servers first.[9]
  • Western Europe: Iberia and Teutonia.
  • Eastern Europe: Polska.
  • Turkey: Barbaros.
Depending on the results, it was then rolled out to further servers. Gameforge also confirmed the status applies to all existing accounts on the listed servers, not just new ones, so that previously unidentified bot accounts could be caught by it.[9]

The exact criteria are not published. Gameforge said publishing them would let bot operators work around the system.[9]

Channel Access

Channel Access went live on 13 October 2026 during the Update 26.2 maintenance, earlier than originally planned. It was described as a temporary measure to reduce abusive activity while longer term solutions were worked on.[6]

It applied to three clusters.[6]
  • TR Cluster: Barbaros and Ezel.
  • EAST Cluster: Romania, Tara Romaneasca, Magyarorszag, Cesko and Polska.
  • WEST Cluster: Teutonia, Europe, Italia and Iberia.
Servers that were already closed, Tigerghost, and paid access servers were not affected.[6]

The configuration that ran until the next maintenance on 21 October 2026 was:[6]
  • Channel 1: everyone.
  • Channels 2, 3 and 4: trusted players only.
  • Channels 5 and 6: Metin+ members only.
Accounts still classed as new players could not access channels 2 to 4. Channel 1 stayed open to everyone specifically so new players could keep progressing toward trusted status.[6]

Players who had completed Biologist Quest 30 received eight days of Metin+ for free, which covered channels 5 and 6 during the test.[6]

The Metin+ gate was a mistake

Gameforge addressed this directly in a follow up to the same announcement. The Metin+ restriction on channels 5 and 6 was taken from the configuration of an upcoming server launch and put into existing servers without any adjustment.[6]

They said they do not intend to introduce premium channels on existing servers, and that the Metin+ gate would be removed during the next maintenance and replaced with the same loyalty restriction the other channels use. The eight day Metin+ grant was given out because the original configuration was already live.[6]

That clarification matters for anyone reading the original table and assuming it is the final shape of the system. It is not.[6]

What this means for your account
  • If you can still trade, PvP and join guilds, your account already has trusted status. Nothing changes for you.[9]
  • If you are on one of the test servers and you cannot do those three things, you have the New Player status. Keep playing normally and it lifts on its own.[9]
  • Channel 1 is always available, so restricted accounts are never locked out of the game.[6]
  • If you have a problem with your account, Gameforge Support is the route. The criteria cannot be checked manually because they are not published.[9]
Common mistakes
  • Assuming the New Player status is a punishment. It is an automated trust score, and it lifts with normal play.[9]
  • Trying to rush the status by trading or PvP. Those are exactly the actions it blocks.[9]
  • Reading the Channel Access table as permanent. The Metin+ gate on channels 5 and 6 was already scheduled for removal.[6]
  • Expecting the criteria to be published. They are deliberately withheld.[9]
  • Assuming your main account's trust does not help a new one. Trust carries across game accounts on the same Gameforge account.[9]
