Metin2 guilds: the level 40 and 200,000 Yang requirement, the Guardian NPC, and what inactivity costs you

Guilds are the longest commitment in Metin2, and the requirements sit right at the start. Here is the full picture from the official wiki plus Gameforge's own policy announcement.

Creating a guild

You need to be at least level 40 and hold 200,000 Yang. The NPC is Guardian, who stands in each center town of map 1 and in Dong Gwang Plain. The guild name has to be free, and the game's terms of conduct and game rules apply to guild names too.

One rule catches people out: you cannot create a guild if you left a previous guild in the last 7 days. The same 7 day wait applies to joining a new guild.

Talking and managing

Once you are in a guild you talk through the guild channel by switching the chat bar to guild, or by starting a sentence with %. The guild tab opens with ALT+G, or through the community window with ALT+M and the guild information tab. If you are not in a guild yet, that same spot shows the guild ranking list instead.

A guild that wants to accept applications needs to be at least level 6 with 100,000 Yang in the deposit, and it shows up in the list after the next maintenance. Guild leaders set up the application through Guardian.

Leaving or disbanding goes through Guardian as well, and the 7 day wait applies again. A member with the right permission can kick you instead. You cannot kick a guild leader. To hand the guild over you use the Change Guild Leader button in the member list and you need a Ring of Successor.

Guild points and levels

Each level up grants 1,000 guild points. The experience needed to reach guild level 20 in total is 1,734,800,000, which the wiki notes is close to the experience a level 97 character needs.

The Medal of Bravery is the donation reward. You earn it by donating to a guild above level 20, or from the Attendance button on the main guild window once you have been in the guild for at least 24 hours. You spend it at the Medal Keeper, and the Elemental Scrolls bought there add an element to a weapon of +7 or higher. The Medal Keeper shop also unlocks inside the guild UI at guild level 21.

What inactivity costs you

Gameforge checks guild leader activity roughly once a month. If a leader has not been active for 90 days, leadership is transferred automatically to the most recently active eligible member, meaning a level 40 or higher member who logs in regularly.

If a guild leader has been inactive for more than 2 years, the guild is disbanded. A one time cleanup ran on Germania, Teutonia and Magyarorszag for fully inactive guilds: the leader inactive between 300 and 720 days, no other active character on the same server in the last 300 days, and no guild member of level 50 or higher active in the last 60 days.

Active guilds are not affected. If you use your guild as a storage guild, logging in regularly with an eligible character is enough to keep it.
