Metin2 belt system: the extra storage slots, the belts that unlock them, and the refinement rules

Quick summary
The belt system lets you store additional items inside the belt inventory. You open it from the Inventory window by clicking the elongated arrow on the top side. To use it you must equip a belt, and it depends on the grade of the belt how many slots are unlocked. Any item can be stored there. You cannot switch or unequip belts while there are items inside the belt inventory, so empty it first.

Belts can be refined by several NPCs, and they are also obtainable from certain boxes. You can increase the success rate for refining with a Belt Catalyst, which is craftable by Yu-Hwan. Belts are craftable at Yu-Hwan and Jae-Seon Kim, and the Titanium Belt is crafted by Master Chi.
Crafting the early belts
Yu-Hwan crafts the first four belts. The Linen Belt takes 10 Copper, 2 White Pearl, 30 Energy Fragment and 10,000 Yang. The Leather Belt takes 10 Silver, 2 White Pearl, 50 Energy Fragment and 10,000 Yang. The Magnificent Belt takes 10 Gold, 2 Blue Pearl, 70 Energy Fragment and 30,000 Yang. The Belt of Wisdom takes 10 White Gold, 2 Blue Pearl, 100 Energy Fragment and 30,000 Yang.
Crafting the higher belts
Jae-Seon Kim crafts the King's Belt, Rune Belt, Shadow Belt, Tourmaline Belt and Great Bear Belt. Each of those takes 10 of a gem, 2 Blood-Red Pearls, 5 of a yarn, hook or element material, 10 Flame Stones or Ice Flame Stones, and 50,000 Yang. The gem, the middle material and the stone change per belt:
Just like jewellery, belts can have sockets. You can unlock up to 3 sockets with a Diamond, and then a Red Flame Stone can be inserted. The wiki states that the Red Flame Stone increases the base bonus of the belt.
