Devil's Catacomb is a neutral area dungeon that has been in Metin2 since November 15, 2011. It is one of the game's best known ranking spots and the Yang drop there is high, so it stays busy despite strict entry rules. Two reference pages cover it and they disagree on two numbers, which is worth knowing before you plan a run.
Getting in
- Minimum level 75, and you must have completed the Demon Tower once.
- Talk to the Catacomb Guard in Hwang Temple, at coordinates 542, 492.
- From floor 3 upwards, every member of the group needs a Shrunken Head or a Shrunken Head B in their inventory.
- To leave, press "restart city" and you are returned to Hwang Temple.
- There is a 30 minute cooldown before you can re-enter.
- The map cannot be reached through the Old Man or the Teleporter, and it has no ore veins.
The Gameforge wiki says the dungeon opened with 7 floors and that the old 4th floor was removed on September 7, 2021. That floor was a maze with 6 different shapes and only one of them was correct, which is why it went. The wiki's floor images now run from floor 1 to floor 6.
Metin2Atlas still lists 7 floors and a level range of 80 to 84, with 14 monsters and 3,329 spawn points. Its own dungeon profile says level 75 and a 30 minute wait, which matches the wiki. So the level range is the atlas contradicting itself as much as disagreeing with the wiki.
Monster levels
Metin2Atlas lists 14 monsters on the map, all of the darkness element, and recommends rolling attack bonuses against undead and imprinting darkness resistance for defence:
- Hell Warrior 79, Jellyfish of Hell 79
- Hell Archer 80, Hell Hound 80
- Hell Spearman 81, Dead Body Ghost 81
- Hell Priest 82, Hell Officer 82
- Hell Major 83, Hell Guard 83
- Double-head Hell Archer 84, Hell Slaughterer 84
- Infernal Claw 85, Hell General 86
Three bosses, in order:
- Tartaros on floor 4, level 89, 73,770 HP.
- Charon on floor 5, level 91, 114,345 HP.
- Azrael on the boss floor, level 91, 924,600 HP. It guarantees Azrael's Chest, which holds 40 possible rewards including Yang, potions and the Heaven's Tear set pieces.
Stage items and NPCs
- Floor 1: Soul Crystal Key, and the Kud Statue.
- Floor 2: the Gates of the Curse, the Shrunken Head, and the Peddler and Tortoise Rock NPCs.
- Floor 3: Misilleme Metini, the Metin of Retribution.
- Floor 4: the Devil's Catacomb totem, the Obelisk, and the Basalt Obelisk.
There are 22 gates on the map and you do not need to break them all. Eleven are enough. The gates are split into 4 groups and each group has two separate arrangements; break any one arrangement in full from a group and that group counts as complete. Pick whichever arrangement is closest to your route.
Planning a run
The 30 minute cooldown is the thing that catches people. If you leave early to reset a pull, you are locked out for half an hour, so clear the floors you came for before you press restart city. Bring the Shrunken Heads before you talk to the guard, because the requirement applies to every member of the group from floor 3 up and one missing head stops the whole party.
