Quick summary
  • The Metamorphosis Suit is a level 105 to 115 ninja armour. The wiki lists it as Ninja only, and the German page calls it not purchasable.
  • It has 3 Spirit Stone sockets and a Rainbow Powershard slot.
  • Two crafting routes exist. Admiral Angmur upgrades a +9 Dragon Rider Suit for 10,000,000 Yang and always succeeds. Kawuco accepts a +5 to +9 suit for 3,000,000 Yang and can fail.
  • A failed Kawuco craft keeps the base suit but loses the bonuses and the spirit stones.
  • The stat ladder runs +0 to +9. Defense rises from 140 to 340 and the movement speed penalty falls from -15 percent to 0 percent.
What the suit is

The Metamorphosis Suit is a level 105 to 115 ninja armour in Metin2. The English wiki page lists its class as ninja, its sockets as 3 for Spirit Stones, and its Powershard as the Rainbow Powershard. The German page adds one detail the English page leaves out: the purchase price field says not purchasable, so you craft it rather than buy it.

There are two names for the same item depending on where you look. The English page calls it the Metamorphosis Suit. The German page calls it the Verwandlungsanzug, and the Gameforge armour guide lists the other translations: Vêtement métamorphe in French, Abito Metamorfosi in Italian, and Costum Metamorfoză in Romanian.

The two crafting routes

The English wiki page lays out the two NPCs and what each one wants.

Admiral Angmur, guaranteed success. You hand him a Dragon Rider Suit +9, 5 Metallic Gold Dye, 5 Fencing Pamphlet, 5 White Dye, 10 Silver Sheets, 10 Gold Sheets and 10,000,000 Yang. The page states that this route is guaranteed success and that bonuses and spirit stones are kept. It also notes that an option dialogue appears when you throw the Dragon Rider Suit to him, so you choose the result rather than getting whatever the roll gives you.

Kawuco, can fail. You hand him a Dragon Rider Suit between +5 and +9, an Armour Design, 5 White Dye, 5 Silver Sheets and 3,000,000 Yang. The German page spells out the risk: this procedure can fail, and on a failure the bonuses are not carried over.

The wiki also states that the higher the grade of the Dragon Rider Suit you bring, the higher the success rate. That is the mechanical difference between the two NPCs: Angmur costs roughly three times as much Yang and removes the roll, Kawuco is cheaper and keeps it.

The stat ladder

These rows come straight from the wiki table. Movement speed and the monster bonus rise together as you climb.
  • +0, level 105. Defense 140, movement speed -15 percent, strong against monsters +2 percent, chance to restore HP 1 percent.
  • +1, level 106. Defense 150, movement speed -15 percent, strong against monsters +2 percent, chance to restore HP 2 percent.
  • +2, level 107. Defense 154, movement speed -15 percent, strong against monsters +3 percent, chance to restore HP 3 percent.
  • +3, level 108. Defense 160, movement speed -12 percent, strong against monsters +3 percent, chance to restore HP 4 percent.
  • +4, level 109. Defense 170, movement speed -9 percent, strong against monsters +5 percent, chance to restore HP 5 percent.
  • +5, level 110. Defense 184, movement speed -6 percent, strong against monsters +6 percent, chance to restore HP 6 percent.
  • +6, level 111. Defense 204, movement speed -4 percent, strong against monsters +7 percent, chance to restore HP 7 percent.
  • +7, level 112. Defense 234, movement speed -2 percent, strong against monsters +8 percent, chance to restore HP 8 percent.
  • +8, level 113. Defense 276, movement speed -1 percent, strong against monsters +9 percent, chance to restore HP 9 percent.
  • +9, level 115. Defense 340, movement speed 0 percent, strong against monsters +10 percent, chance to restore HP 10 percent.
Two things worth noticing. First, the level requirement does not rise every step. It climbs one level at a time from +0 to +8, then jumps from 113 at +8 to 115 at +9, so there is no level 114 entry. Second, the movement speed penalty is the real cost of the lower tiers. At +0 you are giving up 15 percent of your movement speed, and that penalty only reaches zero at +9. Every point of that ladder is a real tradeoff, not a free upgrade.

Upgrade costs

The wiki lists the material cost per step in its table. The first column of the upgrade table is marked no Yang necessary, then the costs climb.
  • 7,500 Yang and 1 Grey Dye for the first step.
  • 15,000 Yang, 1 Grey Dye and 1 Mithril for the next.
  • 25,000 Yang, 2 Grey Dye and 1 Mithril.
  • 40,000 Yang, 2 Grey Dye and 2 Mithril.
  • 65,000 Yang, 3 Grey Dye and 2 Mithril.
  • 90,000 Yang, 3 Grey Dye and 3 Mithril.
  • 120,000 Yang, 1 Titanium Dioxide and 4 Mithril.
  • 150,000 Yang, 1 Agate and 4 Mithril.
  • 250,000 Yang, 1 Moonstone and 4 Mithril.
The material mix changes partway through. Grey Dye and Mithril carry the early steps, then the higher steps switch to single named gems: Titanium Dioxide, Agate and Moonstone. Budget for the gems before you start, because the last three steps are where the cost jumps.

Armour values across classes

The Gameforge armour guide makes a claim that matters for anyone comparing pieces: the defence values, bonuses and properties of armour at a certain level are identical for all five classes. Only the name and the appearance differ. The guide also says armour is class-bound, so a Warrior cannot wear ninja armour even though the numbers match. The practical consequence is that you compare tiers and upgrade levels, not the class name on the item.

FAQ

Q: Can I buy a Metamorphosis Suit from a merchant?
A: No. The German wiki page lists the purchase price as not purchasable. You craft it through Admiral Angmur or Kawuco.

Q: Which NPC should I use?
A: Admiral Angmur if you want certainty. His route costs 10,000,000 Yang and is guaranteed, and your bonuses and spirit stones carry over. Kawuco is 3,000,000 Yang and can fail, in which case the bonuses are lost.

Q: Do I need a +9 Dragon Rider Suit for both routes?
A: No. Angmur wants a +9 suit. Kawuco accepts anything from +5 to +9, and the wiki says the success rate rises with the grade you bring.

Q: Is the Metamorphosis Suit wearable by every class?
A: The English wiki page lists it as ninja armour. The Gameforge guide says armour is class-bound, so only ninja characters wear it.

Q: What does the movement speed line mean?
A: It is a penalty that shrinks as you upgrade. At +0 the suit costs you 15 percent movement speed, and the penalty reaches 0 percent at +9.
