Metin2 mounts: the four basic seals, the Rotten Wooden Box source, the five minute limit, and the special seals
Quick summary
Metin2 mounts are a separate system from horses. You ride them from level 75 onwards, they give you a defence or attack bonus while you are mounted, and each one lasts five minutes before it disappears. The basic seals drop from a chest in the Grotto of Exile, and there is a longer list of special seals with movement speed and experience bonuses.

How mounts work
  • You can ride a mount from level 75 onwards, like a horse.
  • While mounted you keep the mounted advantages, which the wiki describes as horse skills, and the mount adds a certain amount of defence or strength.
  • A mount can be used for 5 minutes. When the time expires, the mount disappears.
  • If you want to use a mount, you have to send your horse away before using a seal.
  • You can summon a mount with its seal, or with Control+G.
Getting the basic seals
The wiki says that from level 75 in the Grotto of Exile a Rotten Wooden Box can drop as an Alternative Drop. Opening that chest gives one of four options, five copies of a single creature:
  • 5x Wild Boar chest
  • 5x Lion chest
  • 5x Tiger chest
  • 5x Wolf chest
Opening the creature chest gives the seal that matches it. Each seal can be exchanged at Heuk-Young, for example if your level is too low to use it.

The four basic mounts
  • Wild Boar: from level 75, Defence +75, tradeable.
  • Wolf: from level 80, Defence +100, tradeable.
  • Tiger: from level 85, Defence +125, tradeable.
  • Lion: from level 85, Attack Value +200, tradeable.

The wiki notes that most special mounts cannot be traded, that some carry a set bonus, and that you can transmutate mounts (skin) by Theowahdan.

FAQ
Are mounts the same as horses?
No. The wiki describes mounts as ridden from level 75 onwards like a horse, but they are seal-based, they last five minutes, and they add a fixed defence or attack bonus. Horses are the Call Horse system, which is a separate topic on this board.
What happens when the five minutes run out?
The mount disappears, according to the wiki.
Can I use a mount while my horse is out?
No. The wiki says you have to send your horse away before using a seal.
Do the special seals stack with each other?
The wiki does not say. It lists each seal's own bonus and tradeability and nothing about combining them.
How do I get a special mount?
The basic seals come from the Rotten Wooden Box in the Grotto of Exile. The wiki says the origin of the special mounts is on each seal's own page, which it does not reproduce here.
