Metin2 mailbox: the level 20 gate, the Yang fee, the inbox limits, and where the two wiki versions disagree

Quick summary
The Metin2 mailbox sends a message plus Yang, Won and one item to another player. The English wiki and the German wiki disagree on the fee, and the German pages carry most of the rules: the inbox cap, the retention window, the character limits and a daily downtime. Neither wiki documents the Mobile Mailbox item, which the English page links as a page that does not exist.

The level gate
You can send messages, Yang, Won and one item to other players from level 20. The German Mailing System page states the same level 20 requirement.

The fee, and the disagreement
The English wiki says you must pay 2000 Yang for each message. The German Mailing System page says sending a message costs 1.000 Yang. That is a factor of two. The German page was last edited on 30 November 2023, the English page on 8 April 2026, so the German figure is the older of the two. I would not bet on which is current without testing in game.

What the German page adds around the fee:
  • Receiving Yang costs 5 percent of the amount received.
  • Receiving items and Won costs nothing.
  • You can send to players who are offline.
  • A block function inside the message stops a player from messaging you again.
Inbox limits
  • The inbox holds at most 20 messages, and you cannot receive anything while it is full.
  • Messages stay in the mailbox for 30 days.
  • GM messages also stay for 30 days.
  • Messages you never accepted, and their contents, are deleted after 30 or 7 days.
  • A subject is limited to 25 characters and the body to 100 characters.
  • You can send at most 99 Won and 9.998.999 Yang per message.
  • The mailbox is disabled every day from 9:00 to 13:00.
The 20-message cap is the one that bites. A full inbox silently stops delivery, and the sender gets no error.

Where the mailbox stands
The English wiki lists a mailbox per empire, with coordinates. The German page lists the same towns with its own coordinates, and two rows do not match:
  • Bazaar: 408, 273 on the English page, 315, 318 on the German page.
  • Yayang and Jayang: 435, 581 in English, 435, 580 in German. Off by one on the second axis.
  • Sung Mahi's Hell Tower: the English page says only "Base floor". The German page gives 109, 142.
The German page also notes the mailbox always stands next to the storage keeper, except inside Sung Mahi's Hell Tower. If you are hunting one in a town you do not know, look for the storage keeper first.

The Mobile Mailbox
The English page says you can use the mailbox anywhere if you use the Mobile Mailbox item, and links that item as a redlink, meaning the wiki has no page for it. So the item exists in the game and is not documented on the English wiki at all. The German pages do not mention it either.

Quests
The English page states the mailbox NPC is not needed for any quests. If you are clearing quest prerequisites, this is one NPC you can ignore.

FAQ
How much does a message cost?
The English wiki says 2000 Yang per message and the German page says 1.000 Yang. They disagree, so treat the in-game prompt as the authority.

Can I mail an item and money together?
Yes. The English page says a message can carry Yang, Won and one item.

Can I mail someone who is offline?
Yes, according to the German Mailing System page.

Why did my message not arrive?
The recipient's inbox may be full. It holds 20 messages and stops accepting at that point.

Does the mailbox close at some point in the day?
The German page says it is disabled from 9:00 to 13:00 each day.

Is there a page for the Mobile Mailbox item?
Not on the English wiki. The English Mailbox page links it as a redlink.
