If you have just picked the Lycan — or you are weighing it against the other classes — the first thing to understand is its skill page: the Lycan has a single specialisation, Instinct. This guide covers what that means in practice, what each documented Instinct skill is, and what role the class is built for.
Where the Lycan fits among Metin2's classes
The Lycan is one of Metin2's five playable classes. The game's Steam page puts it plainly: "Choose from five character classes – Warriors, Ninjas, Shamans, Suras and Lycans."
Lore-wise, the official Metin2 wiki describes Lycans as "formidable wolf creatures which were once infected by an incurable virus, losing their human forms and mutating into beasts." They are characterised as exceptional close-combat fighters who "always seek out the front lines" — in other words, this is a front-line melee class, not a caster or a ranged skirmisher. If you enjoy being in the middle of the fight, that is the intended play pattern.
One specialisation: Instinct
Both the official wiki's Lycan overview and its skills page list a single specialisation for the class, Instinct. For a new player this is arguably a simplification rather than a limitation: there is no second tree to weigh up, and every Lycan you meet is working from the same documented skill set. The trade-off is less build variety within the class — your identity as a Lycan comes from the one tree.
The documented Instinct skills
The official wiki lists eight skills under Instinct:
- Crimson Wolf Soul — "Become possessed by the soul of the crimson wolf."
- Indigo Wolf Soul — "Increase the attack speed and evasion of your entire group."
- Shred — "Tear into your opponent with a powerful blow."
- Wolf's Breath — "Attack your opponent with a deadly gust of air."
- Wolf's Claw — "Shred your enemy's armour."
- Wolf Pounce — "Attack your enemy in a leap attack."
- Talon Storm — no description is published on the official wiki.
- Wolf's Breath Boost — "Increases the attack power of Wolf's Breath."
Most of the tree is offensive, but Indigo Wolf Soul is the exception. Per the wiki, it will "increase the attack speed and evasion of your entire group" — making it the Lycan's contribution to party play beyond raw damage.
The utility skills: Wolf's Claw and Wolf's Breath Boost
Two skills stand out from the straightforward attacks. Wolf's Claw shreds enemy armour, which softens targets up for follow-up damage. Wolf's Breath Boost does not stand alone; it increases the attack power of Wolf's Breath, so the two are designed to be used together.
The direct attacks
The remaining skills — Crimson Wolf Soul, Shred, Wolf's Breath and Wolf Pounce — are cast on yourself or your opponent directly. One honest caveat: the official wiki currently provides no description at all for Talon Storm beyond its name, so we will not speculate about what it does. Likewise, the wiki does not publish damage numbers or skill-point values for any of these skills, so any guide quoting exact figures is pulling them from somewhere other than the official documentation — treat those numbers with caution.
