When you can ride
The wiki says you can ride a horse from character level 10. From level 25 you can start quests that raise your horse level when you complete the task. Each time you want to start a quest or collect seals, talk to the Stable Boy. The maximum horse level is 40, and you can check yours in the Skill table (press V) by looking at the horse icon.
Calling your horse
A horse has to be summoned with a seal, and the default chance without preparation is low (10%). The Call Horse skill is trained with the Horse Taming Manual, and the wiki lists these evocation chances:
- Level 0: 10%
- Level 1: 15%
- Level 2: 20%
- Level 3: 30%
- Level 4: 40%
- Level 5: 50%
- Level 6: 60%
- Level 7: 70%
- Level 8: 80%
- Level 9: 90%
- Level 10: 100%
From horse level 21 you can learn horse skills. You can have up to 2 passive skills, the first from horse level 21 and the second from horse level 31. Passive bonuses only work while you are mounted. The wiki also says all horse bonuses and skills apply to mounts as well.
Care and shortcuts
- A horse needs feeding from time to time and rest after a long ride, otherwise it gets tired and you cannot use it for a while.
- A dead horse can be revived by giving the Stable Boy the correct Monkey Herb, which drops from bosses in the ape and gnoll dungeons.
- Riding gives you 20 extra defence points.
- CTRL + B sends the horse away, CTRL + F feeds it, and CTRL + H or G mounts and dismounts.
- You can rename a summoned horse by clicking it, and you need Horse Sugar for that.
