Metin2 Empire System: The Three Kingdoms, PvP Rules, and How Realm Wars Work

Metin2 splits its world into three empires that exist in permanent rivalry. Your choice at character creation determines who you fight, where you can travel safely, and which events you join. This guide covers the three realms, how cross-realm PvP works, and what to expect from the monthly realm war.

The Three Empires
  • Chunjo (yellow): covers the western part of the continent. A theocratic realm led by spiritual figures.[1]
  • Jinno (blue): covers the eastern ranges. A martial society built on military strength.[1]
  • Shinsoo (red): lies in the south. A trade-focused realm whose wealth comes from commerce.[1]
Each realm spans four maps connected by portals: Map1, Map2, Guildzone, and Guildzone 2. A neutral range sits between all three, where players from every empire can meet.[1]

The choice is permanent. Once you pick an empire at character creation, you fight the other two from that point forward.[2]

Cross-Realm PvP Rules
  • No ranking penalty: you can attack players from other realms at any time without losing ranking points.[2]
  • Damage penalty: if you are on a map belonging to an enemy realm, you deal 10% less damage. This affects both PvP and PvE.[2]
  • Language barrier: players from different realms cannot communicate by default. You need to learn the foreign language via books or wear a language ring.[2]
The damage penalty means invading another realm puts you at a slight disadvantage. The language barrier becomes relevant in high-level PvP and coordination between empires.[2]

The Monthly Realm War

The realm war is the largest organized PvP event in Metin2. It takes place once a month and usually has a level-range requirement.[2]

How it works:[2]
  • A server message announces the start.
  • Speak to the battle administrator and register.
  • You are teleported to an access map. Each realm has its own entrance.
  • Kill the Evil Yellow Tiger Spirit at the portal to obtain a key.
  • Fight through aggressive monsters on the way to the boss.
  • Use the key on the Stolen Gang Seal to open the gate to the Holy Land.
  • Once the gate opens, further players from your realm cannot enter.
  • In the Holy Land, all three empires meet. The realm with the fewest points when time runs out is eliminated.
  • The two remaining realms continue. The score resets to zero.
The realm that opens the gate first gains an advantage for its fighters inside.[2]

Other Cross-Realm Events

Beyond the monthly war, Metin2 runs occasional events where the empires compete:[2]
  • Capture the Frog: players must capture a frog and bring it back to their realm.
  • Capture the Metin: a competition built around metin stones.
  • Merchant Escort: escort merchants through enemy territory.
Choosing an Empire

Since the choice is permanent, consider playstyle and community. If you want active PvP and organized events, look for a realm with a strong guild presence. If you prefer a quieter leveling experience, any of the three will serve you. The maps, monsters, and content are identical across all three; only the political relationships differ.[2]

FAQ
  • Can I switch empires later? No. The choice is permanent at character creation.[2]
  • Do all realms have the same content? Yes. The maps, monsters, NPCs, and rewards are identical. Only PvP relationships differ.[2]
  • What is the damage penalty in an enemy realm? 10% less damage, affecting both PvP and PvE.[2]
  • How do I understand players from other realms? Learn their language via books or wear a language ring.[2]
  • When does the realm war happen? Once a month, announced by a server message.[2]
  • What happens if my realm is eliminated early? You are out. The remaining two fight with a reset score.[2]
