Soul Stones are one of the most important items for character progression in Metin2. They allow you to upgrade your regular class skills from Grand Master level 1 all the way to P level, which is the maximum. This guide explains what Soul Stones are, where to find them, and how the upgrade system works.
What Soul Stones do
A Soul Stone is a consumable item that upgrades your regular class skills. When you use it, a window appears where you can select which skill to train. The skill must be at Grand Master level or higher to be eligible. Soul Stones disappear after use, so you need a steady supply if you want to max out your skills.
How to get Soul Stones
Soul Stones drop from Metin of Soul, which are special metin stones that appear in the world. You need to destroy metin stones level 40 or higher to have a chance at getting a Soul Stone. The drop rate is not guaranteed, so farming them takes time.
You can also obtain Soul Stones through the in-game shop or as event rewards, but the primary method is farming metin stones in the higher-level zones.
Skill upgrade costs
Training a skill with a Soul Stone costs rank points. The cost depends on the current level of the skill:
- G1 to G2: 1,000 rank points
- G2 to G3: 1,500 rank points
- G3 to G4: 2,000 rank points
- G4 to G5: 2,500 rank points
- G5 to G6: 3,000 rank points
- G6 to G7: 3,500 rank points
- G7 to G8: 4,000 rank points
- G8 to G9: 4,500 rank points
- G9 to G10: 5,000 rank points
- G10 to P: 5,500 rank points
Failure and rank points
Skill training is not guaranteed to succeed. If you fail, you lose about one third to one half of the rank points it would have cost for a successful upgrade. This means failed attempts are expensive, so make sure you have enough rank points to absorb a failure before you start training.
If you have negative rank points, the cost doubles. You cannot train a skill if it would take you below -20,000 rank points. This means you need to be careful about training when your rank is deeply negative, as you can lock yourself out of further training until you recover.
Cooldown system
After using a Soul Stone, you must wait 8 to 12 hours before you can use another one. During this cooldown period, you also cannot use Soul Stone+ or Talent Potion. This cooldown means you cannot spam Soul Stones to max out your skills quickly. You need to plan your training sessions and make each one count.
Soul Stone+ and Talent Potion
Soul Stone+ is an upgraded version of the regular Soul Stone. It works the same way but may have different success rates or additional benefits depending on the server. Talent Potion is another item that can be used for skill training, but it also shares the cooldown with Soul Stones.
Strategy for using Soul Stones
- Farm metin stones in level 40+ zones to build up a supply of Soul Stones
- Make sure you have enough rank points for the upgrade plus a buffer for failure
- Avoid training when your rank is deeply negative because the cost doubles
- Plan your training around the 8 to 12 hour cooldown
- Prioritize your most important skills first, especially your main damage skills
- Save Soul Stones for when you have a stockpile of rank points to spend
Upgrading skills from G1 to P makes a significant difference in your damage output, survivability, and overall effectiveness. A skill at P level is noticeably stronger than the same skill at G1. For endgame content like kingdom wars, boss fights, and PvP, having maxed skills is often the difference between winning and losing.
