Status icons are the small images that appear at the top left corner of your screen in Metin2. They are the game's way of telling you a skill, potion, buff or debuff is active and how long it has left. Hover your mouse over one and it shows what the icon does and the remaining time.[1]
Everything below comes from the official Metin2 Wiki page that lists every icon in the game, grouped into four categories: skill icons, general and event icons, potion and buffing icons, and negative or debuffing icons.[1]
Where they sit and how to read them
The icons live in a fixed spot, top left of the screen. Each one is tied to a trigger: activating a skill, drinking a potion, entering an event, or getting hit by a debuff.[1]
- Hovering over an icon shows the effect and the time remaining.[1]
- More than one icon can be on screen at a time. The wiki explicitly notes that multiple icons can occur simultaneously, for example when several pet skills are active.[1]
- The wiki page lists all existing icons in the game, so anything not covered here is on that page.[1]
These appear when you use a class skill. A few examples of the ones most players see:
- Aura of the Sword and Berserk are activated by a Body Warrior.[1]
- Strong Body is activated by a Mental Warrior.[1]
- Stealth is activated by a Blade Ninja, and Feather Walk by an Archery Ninja.[1]
- Enchanted Blade and Enchanted Armour are activated by a Weaponry Sura.[1]
- Dark Protection and Flame Spirit are activated by a Magic Sura.[1]
- Dragon's Strength, Blessing and Reflect are activated by a Dragon Shaman and can be cast on allies.[1]
- Attack Up and Swiftness are activated by a Healing Shaman and can also be cast on allies.[1]
General and event icons
These are the icons that tell you about the world around you rather than your own buffs.
- Horse state icons run in a sequence: healthy, tired, hungry, almost dead, dead. If your horse icon has moved past tired, feed it before it dies.[1]
- Fishing Marble shows what is on the hook and raises the chance of rare fish.[1]
- Experience Ring increases EXP gain, Thief's Gloves increase item drop, and Lucky Medal increases Yang drop.[1]
- Third Hand automatically picks up Yang, and Storage Chest adds warehouse pages.[1]
- Personal Premium Shop means your offline shop is running.[1]
- Medal of the Dragon means you will not lose EXP after reviving, and Medal of the Dragon+ extends that for its remaining time.[1]
- Concentrated Reading raises the success rate of reading skill books.[1]
- Dragon Stone Alchemy has one icon per wheel, plus a set effect icon that needs six or more active dragon stones.[1]
- Sung Mahi's Presence is a warning icon: if you do not meet the required Sung Ma's will status in Yohara, your bonuses become half.[1]
- Sung Ma Premium Buff raises all Sung Ma's will status by 10.[1]
- Sun Elixir automatically regenerates HP, Moon Elixir automatically regenerates SP.[1]
- Purple Potion and Potion of Speed increase movement speed.[1]
- Green Potion and Potion of Attack increase attack speed.[1]
- Dragon Force Potion gives 15% average damage resistance and 15% skill damage resistance, but only inside Meley's Lair.[1]
- Ice Cream Cornet, Mulled Wine and Sweets all give movement speed +10%, magic and melee attack +5%, and EXP +10% for 30 minutes.[1]
- Yut Nori Secret gives item drop +5%, strength against monsters +10%, and EXP +20% for 30 minutes.[1]
These are the ones you want to see as rarely as possible, because they are applied to you by an opponent or by the environment.
- Poisoned, Bleeding, Burning and Lightning are damage over time effects.[1]
- Slowing reduces your movement speed by 30.[1]
- Faint means you have fainted, and Confused means you have been confused.[1]
- Reduce critical hit cuts your chance of landing a critical hit by 50%.[1]
- Curse of Asmodeus gives strength against monsters -30% during a confrontation.[1]
- Curse of Elemental Realm means you constantly lose HP, and Curse of White Dragon Cave does the same.[1]
- Debuff polymorph means you have been transformed and your damage is reduced by 99%.[1]
- Sung Ma's will debuffs each reduce one stat by 5: INT, RES, STR or VIT.[1]
Three icons are worth watching more than the rest. Sung Mahi's Presence halves your bonuses if your Sung Ma's will is too low, so it is a stat problem, not a gear problem.[1] Curse of Asmodeus silently cuts your monster damage by 30% during a fight, which looks like a weak build until you notice the icon.[1] And the horse state sequence is the only early warning you get before a horse dies, so check it after any long ride.[1]
