Metin2 shoes: the movement speed bands, the socket drills, and the shoe-by-shoe bonuses

Shoes are the one equipment slot that every class wears and that gives you movement speed. The wiki treats them as a set rather than a single item, and the numbers are worth reading before you spend Yang on an upgrade, because the bonus a shoe carries changes completely from one level band to the next.

What a shoe gives you

The wiki describes shoes as equipment worn by all classes that improve movement speed and a little defence, while also contributing another attribute that increases as the shoe is upgraded. Sockets for Spirit Stones are opened with a Black Diamond Drill, and up to two or three sockets can be unlocked.

The Spirit Stones page narrows that down. Shoes have had sockets since version 25.2. All shoes up to level 120 can have a maximum of two sockets, and shoes from champion level 1 can have three. The same page gives the general slot rule for other equipment: items up to level 24 take one stone, level 25 to 44 take two, and items above level 45 take three.

The upgrade cost ladder
  • Level 1 to 23 shoes. Upgrade Yang runs 600, then 1.200, 2.500, 5.000, 10.000, 20.000, 30.000, 45.000 and 75.000.
  • Level 29 to 43 shoes. The ladder starts at 1.000 and ends at 120.000.
  • Level 47 to 59 shoes. The ladder starts at 1.200 and ends at 150.000.
  • Level 65 to 75 shoes. The ladder starts at 1.200 and ends at 150.000.
  • Level 80 to 90 shoes. The ladder runs from 125.000 to 600.000 for Fire Shoes and from 190.000 to 800.000 for Oceanic Shoes.
  • Champion level 1 Moonshine Boots. The ladder runs from 150.000 to 4.777.500, and the item upgrades to +15 rather than +9.

  • Phoenix Shoes, level 55. Defence 5. Same band, plus Block Attack 1 to 10 percent.
  • Fire Bird Shoes, level 59. Defence 5. Same band, plus a flat Defence bonus of +1 to +10.
The level 65 to 75 shoes

These four all sit at a flat 25 percent movement speed, and the level column runs per character level rather than per upgrade step, from 65 through 75. Defence rises from 5 to 10 across that range.
  • Euphoria Shoes. Casting Speed +11 to +20 percent.
  • Glory Boots. Avoid Arrow 11 to 20 percent.
  • Qilin Shoes. Block Attack 11 to 20 percent.
  • Kingfisher Shoes. Flat Defence +11 to +20.
Level 80 to 100 and champion level

Fire Shoes are level 80 to 90 and Oceanic Shoes are level 90 to 100. Both sit at 25 percent movement speed with Defence rising from 17 to 32. Fire Shoes add Strength against monsters from +2 to +10 percent. Oceanic Shoes add Skill Resistance from 2 to 12 percent.

Moonshine Boots are champion level 1 with three sockets. They upgrade to +15, Defence runs from 25 to 93, and Strength against Monsters runs from 2 to 18 percent. The wiki notes the item carries one random bonus.

Broken sockets

The Spirit Stones page warns that inserting a stone has a chance to break the socket. You then see a Piece of Broken Stone. A broken slot can be cleaned by upgrading the item or by using a Stone Handbook. If you want the stones back, a Spirit Stone Scroll removes all of them into your inventory and leaves a mark, while a Scroll of Correction removes only the last one without leaving a mark.
